Creating original music for games dance and interactive media.

About

Ea Sundström is a Swedish composer, producer and musician creating original music for games, dance and interactive media. Her work combines cinematic composition, immersive sound design, experimental electronics and acoustic instruments to create emotionally driven musical worlds where atmosphere, narrative and texture are at the core.

Based in the far north of Sweden, Ea works from Studio Kol, her recording studio on a 400-year-old farm outside Luleå. Here she composes, records and produces music in close connection with the surrounding landscape, exploring the meeting between organic performance, electronic sound and environmental recordings.

Originally trained as a cellist and shaped by years in punk, post-hardcore and experimental music, she has developed a distinctive musical language where orchestral writing, industrial textures, analogue synthesisers, field recordings and electroacoustic techniques merge into immersive sonic experiences.

Composition

Ea composes original scores for games, film, television, dance and contemporary performance. Her music is characterised by strong atmosphere, narrative awareness and a cinematic sense of space, movement and tension.

Alongside traditional composition, she develops adaptive music systems and interactive audio for games, creating evolving musical experiences that respond to player actions and strengthen immersion through dynamic musical structures and environmental storytelling.

Her work includes original music and audio for multiple independent game productions, contemporary dance performances and collaborative artistic projects.

Studio Kol

Studio Kol is both Ea’s recording studio and artistic workspace. Located on a historic farm in northern Sweden, it provides an environment for composing, recording live instruments, experimenting with sound design and producing music from concept to final master.

The studio forms the centre of her creative practice, bringing together traditional musicianship, modern production and immersive audio.

Artistic Practice

Beyond commissioned work, Ea continuously develops personal artistic projects exploring electroacoustic composition, contemporary electronic music and cinematic storytelling.

Her artistic practice is rooted in experimentation and often explores themes such as memory, isolation, landscape, mythology and the relationship between humans, technology and nature. Acoustic instruments, especially the cello, are combined with analogue synthesisers, processed recordings and detailed sound design to create emotionally rich and immersive musical worlds.

Current Projects

Ea is currently an artist in residence at Studio Acusticum in Piteå through a residency awarded by the Swedish Arts Grants Committee (Konstnärsnämnden). During the residency, she is developing a new electroacoustic work for dance, exploring the relationship between acoustic instruments, electronics and movement.

She is also developing a large-scale composition project inspired by the folklore, legends and mythical creatures of northern Sweden. Through cinematic composition, field recordings and experimental sound design, the project reinterprets regional cultural heritage for contemporary audiences.

Alongside these projects, she is writing and producing her second solo album, continuing to develop the electroacoustic and cinematic sound world established on her debut album AN JO.

Selected Collaborations

Throughout her career Ea has collaborated and performed with artists including Mattias Alkberg, Sara Almgren and Dennis Lyxzén. She currently performs in the post-hardcore band Asian Cowboy while continuing to expand her work across games, contemporary performance and experimental music.

Education

Ea has studied composition for games, film and fantasy film scoring at Swedish universities, alongside studies in music production, orchestration and interactive audio. She continues to develop her practice through collaborations with game developers, filmmakers, choreographers and other artists.
